A great addition to the Jin Shin Jyutsu writings

Enjoyed this integration of vedic and JSJ teachings, and learned some new things Mary Burmeister taught/said. The description of the interface between Jin and Shin, and other non-dualistic philosophies were easy to understand. I've been to several 5-day seminars and special topic courses, and it seems the teachers have a rather rote dialogue and the same visuals to describe the manifestation of energy into matter/human form; I appreciated the authors clear references, analogies, and expressed appreciation for JSJ while interweaving a variety of diagrams and stories in this book. Although A Touch of Healing remains my "JSJ Bible", and the one that I always recommend for clients and students, this is a great addition for personal use and delving more deeply into the multi-faceted philosophy and practice of this beautiful hands-on Japanese healing art.

An okay book

An interesting compilation of Jin Shin Jyutsu, Vedic, and Buddhist philosophies intended, I suspect, to be deep and esoteric. The author does tend to ramble on. I enjoyed the nice little explanations of the 26 safety energy locks with bits of philosophy tossed in. I do, however, take exception to the author's stern admonition to use Jin Shin only for oneself and NOT on other people. Complete and utter nonsense. Jin Shin is available to use by anyone on whomever they choose. No exceptions. With clear and loving intention only good comes forth. Mary Burmeister often gave instruction via long distance phone to Jin Shin novices regarding appropriate placement of hands on a person in need of healing. And she was the cat's meow. Universal healing energy is universal healing energy and available to all. No one benefits by attempts to keep Jin Shin under the control of an exclusive little herd of self-styled special folks. The author also casually dismisses the "cook book" method of sharing Jin Shin. In fact this type of information is very helpful to anyone searching for quick first aid.
Primarily, Original Jin Shin is for someone wishing to read ABOUT Jin Shin. For anyone truly interested in learning to practice this amazing art I would recommend Jin Shin Fee by Felicitas Waldeck. This is a book about Jin Shin Jyutsu with a necessary name change in order to circumvent the grasping Scottsdale Jin Shin Jyutsu corporate machine. Also Touch of Healing by Alice Burmeister is excellent. Anyone can skillfully learn to practice Jin Shin without lengthy, "authorized" and very pricey training. It's a powerful healing modality available to everyone. Don't be misled.

Authentic and authoritative!

Skillfully presented theory and lucid Jin Shin application protocols from a practitioner with a rich background in eastern healing modalities and yogic philosophy. Lot's of "aha" moments of comprehension, this book is a treasure and a must read for anyone interested in Jin Shin Jytsu pioneered by Mary Burmeister in the U.S. This is translation from a Dutch language original - sometimes evident - but refreshingly so. Highly recommended!
