Good book for starting CA

I have used this book for my graduate course I have taken a while back. For someone who had never studied conversation analysis (CA), a lot of terms used in the book was a bit too difficult to intuitively understand the concept. But once I was more familiar with the concept of CA, this book became a lot more accessible and easy to understand.
There are many examples for each concept, and they help to understand it better.
I'm not an expert of CA, but I definitely recommend this book for someone who wants to learn more about CA.

The Best Introduction to CA

I have read several introductory books on conversation analysis, and found that this one is the best one available thus far.
One of the most valuable things that an introduction to methodology should accomplish is, I think, to shed light on what sort of insights naive readers or students can expect by analyzing conversation, which otherwise will be nothing more than drudgery. With that respect, this book sucessfully ignites interest in CA and offers ample vivid examples.

A great introduction

This is a great introduction to CA. We have been reading it in a reading group with several technologists for whom this has been their first exposure to CA. They are finding the book very clear and the examples many examples and Sidnell's analysis of them show just how CA is done in practice. I highly recommend it.
