Unlike his fiery sermons, Graham speaks here in a low-key, self-deprecating tone, relating humorous anecdotes, such as his early sermon practices in a swamp, and the moral and apolitical foundation that has set his ministry apart from other well-known evangelists. Although Graham offers few insights into personal relationships with those around him or into his own struggles with faith and career, readers interested in the details of his crusades and other ministerial activities will not be disappointed.

Graham was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, on November 7, 1918, and founded the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association in 1950. In this account, Graham looks back at his life with the down-to-earth warmth and candor that have always characterized his ministry. He remembers his early dairy farm days in Charlotte, his early preaching experiences, and his friendships with numerous presidents and international leaders. With a career spanning 50 years, Graham has been an influential advocate for desegregation and other social issues. His integrity and humility have made him one of the world's most respected leaders. Wow, what an amazing story.

I found this book really awe inspiring. Billy Graham had such an amazing life - particularly being chaplain to the Presidents of America. He shared the gospel with millions of people around the world. He had such an amazing impact on so many peoples lives. I would certainly recommend that every Christian read this book.

The Finest Shinto Scholarship, Pure and Simple

This collection of articles constitutes by far the best, most reliable general historical treatment of Shinto that I know of, and in overall quality is on a par with Helen Hardacre's excellent "Shinto and the State, 1868-1988" (which of course deals in depth with a more specific time period). This is good, solid, critical scholarship that plies the middle course between the Scylla of ahistorical, essentialist, culturally nationalist fuzz and the Charybdis of politicized, deconstructive, debunking wrath. Not that the contributors don't have a point to make, but they do so without sermonizing (one way or the other); their primary interest is in shedding some much needed light and clarity on the many fascinating and important aspects of the traditions we call "Shinto" today, spanning the seventh to twentieth centuries in the process. And I have already seen a number of these articles cited in books and academic journals, so this promises to be an influential set of studies. Most of these articles are original to this book, while some are translations from Japanese journals appearing in English here for the first time. If you are interested in Japanese religion generally or Shinto specifically, you won't want to miss out on this hefty volume, and those into Japanese history should also find it useful.

Steven Otfinoski has written more than 150 books for young readers. Three of his nonfiction books have been chosen Books for the Teen Age by the New York Public Library. They have two children, two dogs, and a cat. When he's not writing he enjoys swimming, tennis, reading, and singing in his church choir.

Great Resource!

This book is part of a great series that explains the complicated family tree of the Greek Gods. As a teacher, I bought the complete series to supliment the materials that I already had to help my students. This book was a favorite. It's fun to read, easy to understand and has great pictures!

Decent "Cliff Notes" intro to Greek Myths

I wanted to have a little something to help me out as I read the "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" series, and this book helped in that regard. The brief synopses of each mythic figure are done with whimsy and I quite enjoyed it all. It is presented in a style that would appeal to the short attention spans of today's kids, but I (a grown man) found it fun as well.

My daughter learned a lot from this entire series. We both love to sit down and read all of the Mytholopedia books together. The books aren't very big but they are packed with info and entertainment. There are a lot of fun illustrations and the writing is clever and current. These books are a great way to get kids interested in Mythology.

Thoroughly thorough through and through

Dr Buzug excels in introducing readers of all levels to the Physics and technology of Computed Tomography. The text is concise but where the book really shines is in the math, especially in the chapters treating reconstruction algorithms. This reviewer has been in the field for over two decades and still found the book highly educative and an invaluable desk reference. Combine it with Prof Kalender's book for a better treatise of spiral (helical) CT.

The definitive computed tomography text

I purchased this book as a reference while completing my dissertation in the field of CT imaging. I found it to be invaluable. The book is virtually completely comprehensive for its topic. It neatly juxtaposes the history, physics, mathematics, and practical implementations of the technology.

It is well-written and logically organized with a myriad of excellent figures. It would make a valuable addition the bookshelf of any scientist or clinician who routinely works with CT imaging.

My only trivial complaint is that Amazon did not stock a hardback edition when I ordered my copy, which I prefer for textbooks.

an enjoyable read that is full of great information

Among my library of books on the topic of martial arts, this is among my favorites. Whereas most of these books, particularly those on Ninjutsu, tend to tiptoe around the art promising answers and delivering only tired, rehearsed stereotypes, this book provides real techniques, useful advice, and timeless wisdom. For those with an academic interest in the Ninja, this book will no doubt prove intriguing and informative. For those who have set themselves on the path of the Ninja, it will help to guide your steps. There can be no doubt that it demands multiple readings and I eagerly look forward to each of them. It deserves no less than my highest recommendation. Enjoy it.

buyer beware guys....this reminds me of old haha lung crossed with ashida kim and ant cummings...be very careful here...they mix truth with fiction and stuff that could get you hurt...

god i could go on but you should get the idea...as for the other reviews look them over closely ... they are the same way the book is written somebody knows some things and uses them all...ex bujinkan and soeme other school?

About the Author
Timothy J. Trull, Ph.D., is professor of psychological sciences at the University of Missouri. Dr. Trull received his Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky and completed his internship at New York Hospital Cornell Medical Center. His research interests are in the areas of diagnosis and classification of mental disorders; borderline personality disorder; substance use disorders; clinical assessment; professional issues in clinical psychology; and ambulatory assessment methods. Dr. Trull has received several awards and honors for his teaching and mentoring, including Psi Chi Professor of the Year, the Robert S. Daniels Junior Faculty Teaching Award, and most recently the MU Graduate Faculty Mentor Award. He enjoys teaching Abnormal Psychology and Introduction to Clinical Psychology; his textbook, CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY (Wadsworth) is used in classes across the U.S. and internationally. Clinical Psychology by Timothy J. Trull is a warts-and-all perspective on the field of clinical psychology. A clinical psychologists is supposed to be an expert in personality theory and in mental health disorders, and know how to assess, diagnose, and treat mental health problems as well as do consultation and research regarding how to assess, diagnose, and treat mental health problems. I learned a lot from the textbook. I won't be able to do it justice here, but what I enjoyed learning most was about the efficacy and effectiveness of attempts to assess personality and also the efficacy and effectiveness for different therapeutic techniques as treatments for people with mental health problems. Regarding personality tests, the Minnesota Multi-Phasic Personality Inventory version 2 (MMPI-2) seems to be effective "in the prediction of personality disorder, aggression, and in the differentiation between depressed patients and substance abuse patients," and the Revised NEO-Personality Inventory (NEO-PI-R) has "been shown to provide incremental predictive ability in the assessment of personality disorder, maternal responsiveness to infants, and violence" (p. 230), and so the tests are effective for at least those measures. Regarding therapeutic techniques, cognitive-behavioral therapy and behavioral therapy come out ahead of the others, but incidentally working therapists today often regard themselves as using an eclectic technique, which allows them the possibility of using cognitive-behavioral therapy, behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, or any combination of any kinds of techniques they'd like.

Snide but carefully so...

This book is probably the most *honest* Clinical Psychology book I've seen. He *tries* to point out faults within the modern clinical psych work, however, there is a lot of backpedaling. Be sure to read carefully, there are quite a few shots at clinical psych and the system that are worth noting!

Would recommend to all my friends!

I have been suffering from imbalanced hormones and it has not been pretty. I lost my job over my health. Most people don't have the time to research and understand how the current media tells us lies about the foods they put on our shelves at the grocery stores. This book is a must for any woman and I'm sure men also suffer from hormonal imbalance as well. If you have symptoms that you just don't feel your doctor is getting to the heart of....I suggest you read this book, visit Dr. Dale's website [...].
and start reading what might really be going on for your body. Then get on board letting our food producers know that we want good food back in our grocery stores so everyone can enjoy a happy and healthy life!

In Feb 2007, I was given so-called "bio-identical" progesterone. 10 weeks later, my hormones were so off, that I actually stayed awake 4 days because my body was so toxic. With Dr. Dales help, I recovered. DO NOT believe the dangerous [...] that are making these dangerous hormones! They are all dangerous! [...]

Loved this book as it shows you there are always other options out there for us to consider regarding our health. The book reveals that you have so many other options for yourself while dealing with hormone problems. It is so informative that after reading it, you feel like you just learned so much more about your body than you ever knew before. I believe that this book inspires us all to take control of our own health and not be afraid to try other alternative therapies. Every woman should read this if you are suffering from hormone issues. You will not be disappointed.
