Thoroughly thorough through and through

Dr Buzug excels in introducing readers of all levels to the Physics and technology of Computed Tomography. The text is concise but where the book really shines is in the math, especially in the chapters treating reconstruction algorithms. This reviewer has been in the field for over two decades and still found the book highly educative and an invaluable desk reference. Combine it with Prof Kalender's book for a better treatise of spiral (helical) CT.

The definitive computed tomography text

I purchased this book as a reference while completing my dissertation in the field of CT imaging. I found it to be invaluable. The book is virtually completely comprehensive for its topic. It neatly juxtaposes the history, physics, mathematics, and practical implementations of the technology.
It is well-written and logically organized with a myriad of excellent figures. It would make a valuable addition the bookshelf of any scientist or clinician who routinely works with CT imaging.
My only trivial complaint is that Amazon did not stock a hardback edition when I ordered my copy, which I prefer for textbooks.

If understanding how CT works is what you are looking for, this is The Book. I have referred to this text countless times over the past years teaching CT to colleagues. This will require some understanding of mathematics, but Buzug does a wonderful job of illustrating and describing the concepts that are accessible to those with PhDs in math wanting proofs, as well as clinicians only wanting a summary.
